WORLD DAY OF WATER - the 20th of March
The
United Nations general Assembly adopted on the 22nd of December 1992
the resolution A/RES/47/193 that declared the 22nd of March of every
year "World Day of the Water" with effect from year 1993, in accordance with
the recommendations of the United Nations Conference for the Environment and
Development (CNUED), expressed in the
Chapter 18 (Fresh water resources) of Action 21.
This resolution asked the States to dedicate this
day according to the national context, by putting actions into concrete form
such as increasing public awareness via publications, documentaries broadcasting,
conferences organizing, round tables, seminars and exhibition about
conservation and development of water resources and the implementation of the
Action 21 recommendations.
